06/19/09 - ECATS records 50,000 flight hours
On 19 June, ECATS (EADS Cognac Aviation Training Services) will celebrate the achievement of 50,000 flight hours together with the French Air Force at the Cognac Air Force Base. On this occasion, an anniversary event will also be held at the Paris Air Show.
ECATS was initiated in April 2006, the aim being to provide the French Air Force with the necessary means and services to implement basic pilot training. This is the first such outsourcing initiative in France and the service quality being offered to the French Air Force in the installation and operation of a fleet of 18 Grob 120 aircraft is unique. The aircraft are equipped with a new generation of instruments, thus rendering them suitable as training aircraft for flight and navigation procedures. The services provided by ECATS have enabled the French Air Force to significantly modernise its pilot training.
ECATS has been certified by the French civil aviation authority for civil and military MRO standards (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul). ECATS is part of EADS Defence & Security (DS) and is being run as a subsidiary of the DS Business Unit Military Air Systems.
